Handicraft instruction is available on an "open schedule" at the Hagerty shelter every afternoon. Scouts can drop by the Handicraft area during a free period and earn basketry, leatherwork, collections, or wood carving merit badge. Some cost may apply; see the merit badge for price.
American Cultures: Teaches about different cultures in the United States. Difficulty: Moderate.
Art: Teaches Scouts the basics about art. Difficulty: Easy.
Basketry†: Making a basket and stool. Difficulty: Easy. Extra costs: approx $15 for crafts.
Collections†: Teaches Scouts how manage and display their collections. Scout must bring their collection or if too large bring a picture requirement 5B. Difficulty: Moderate.
Composite Materials: NEW for this year. Scouts will learn about resins and compound materials, including the manufacture of two projects. Difficulty: Moderate, limit 10 per class. Extra costs for kits and materials: $15.
Crime Prevention: Scouts will learn what they can do to prevent crime. Some requirements should be done before camp: #3, 5, and 7. Difficulty: Moderate.
Leatherwork†: Teaches about different kinds of leather and tanning techniques. Difficulty: Easy. Extra costs: approx $10 for crafts.
Indian Lore: Teaches about the history of Native Americans. Difficulty: Moderate
Wood Carving: † Reviews different techniques used in carving. Difficulty: Moderate. Extra cost: $5.00.
Wood Working: Teaches Scouts the basic about woodworking. Some requirements should be completed at home #5. Difficulty: Moderate; extra cost: $5.00
