Both the Challenging Outdoor Physical Encounter (COPE) Course and Climbing Tower are lighted so they can be used at night when it’s cooler. All Scouts wishing to climb or use the COPE course must have a signed High Adventure Release form. See the appendix for the release form.
Climbing The climbing and rappelling area is open for instruction in climbing merit badge. The area will also be open for "free climbs", bouldering, and instruction in Climb-On Safely. Details on these programs will be distributed to leaders at summer camp. Climbing merit badge is taught during the 5th skills session at Outdoor Skills Area. All Scouts wishing to climb or use the COPE course must have a signed High Adventure Release form. See the appendix for the release form.
Climbing merit badge: Learn to safely climb, rappel, and belay. This merit badge can be physically exhausting. Difficulty: Hard.
Cope Course The cope course features giant’s ladder, Jacobs ladder, rope climb, slack line, grape vine, 400-foot zip line, flying squirrel, mush line and balance beam (note-not all of these may be run during camp). We will be able to offer Low COPE elements pending completion of our new Low COPE course. There is a $20 fee for COPE, with a 20 participant maximum.
